Water wastage is quite common. Most of the people believe that there is enough water on the Earth and hence wasting is no crime. Those people do not realize that though 97% of the earth is covered with water but unfortunately that water is not drinkable. Only 3% water on Earth is fresh-water and can be used for drinking purpose. Out of this 3%, 70% is in the form of glaciers and icecaps and hence cannot be reached. The remaining water that is underground is mere 0.3% of total fresh water. This is the water we get in our homes and use it for various purposes from brushing our teeth to drinking to washing our cars.
It is quite obvious that this water is very less in amount and at the same time quite precious for living and hence this water should be conserved. Somehow people still believe that there is ample water on Earth and moreover the water they waste will be recycled eventually.
On the other hand, there are people who are totally oblivious to the fact that water is a very precious resource and should be conserved. They do not know about the implications of shortage of water on Earth and do not care about things at macro level. They are happy and contended so far as they are getting a steady supply of water.
It is very important to save and conserve water and use it judiciously. If we keep on wasting water at current rate and end up having no water on earth then it will lead to a great chaos. Somebody has rightly said that Fourth world war will be fought for water. Better to start early and save as much as we can for our next generations.
