Why Do Some People Suffers From Nausea

Chances are that you have at least once experienced the uncomfortable feeling of nausea. Before proceeding to elaborate the reasons and factors causing nausea, it is important to know what accurately nausea is. Nausea is a medical condition, in which a person feels discomfort in the stomach and back of the throat. The discomfort is mostly accompanied with an urge to vomit.

Though, there can be several reasons that can cause nausea, here are some of the leading factors that are responsible for triggering nausea.

Food and Eating Habits

Consuming foods that are spicy or have high-fat content frequently can cause stomach upset, and ultimately result in nausea. Moreover, nausea may also occur due to poor eating habits, such as overeating and consuming foods that one is allergic to.

Heartburn

Heartburn, also known as GastroEsophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), is a stomach related disease, in which the food eaten by a person comes back from the esophagus or food pipe. A burning sensation can be felt by the affected person and this might result into nausea.

Infection

While suffering from an infection or some viral disease, the stomach is affected by bacteria and viruses that may lead to nausea. Food poisoning caused due to bacteria present in food might also lead to nausea.

Intense Pain Conditions

Sometimes the condition of nausea is generated due to an intense pain in the body. Pancreatitis, kidney stones and gallbladder stones are some conditions that may result in intense painful conditions, ultimately leading to nausea. The intense pain can be suppressed by taking painkillers and pain relievers.

Motion Sickness

This is one of the most common reasons for people to go through nausea. The motion sickness can be due to bumpy rides or travelling in hills known. It is also known as hill sickness in the latter case. Some people also suffer from seasickness, while having a sea voyage. In such cases, the nausea is caused due to non-coordination of messages between brain and senses during the uneven motion.

Ulcer

Nausea is very common medical condition among ulcer patients. An ulcer is a sore that may occur in stomach, intestine or the inner lining of the oesophagus. A burning sensation is produced by an ulcer when the person eats food and this eventually leads to nausea.

Cancer

If a person is suffering from cancer, then there is high possibility of experiencing nausea. It can be caused by a number of factors, such as brain affected due to cancer, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, anxiety, and certain non-chemo medicines.
