Crying is not a trait limited to women alone. Men too have tear ducts and until puberty men and women cry almost the same amount of tears when in pain or when feeling sad. It has been observed that women cry more frequently than men. Crying is an expression of intense emotions. Though it has been related mostly with grief, even a feeling of intense happiness can make tears well up in your eyes. There are many reasons behind a girl’s tears. Some say that it is the hormone prolactin which is responsible for making women cry. Though this hormone is present both in men and women, it has been found in greater quantity in women’s blood and tears.
Women do not just cry out of helplessness. Crying helps women face a situation head on. When women get frustrated they tend to cry. For men not crying is a sign of machismo. They have been taught from baby-hood that men are not supposed to cry. Crying is an expression of personal closure, when we face our demons and tackle it. Women also cry when they are hurt by rude words or have made some folly of judgment. The change in hormone levels before menstruation every month make their mood swing and they can be prone to crying over little issues. This is the time when women feel vulnerable and insecure due to hormonal changes. Any sort of emotional pressure or tension can lead to tears. How much a girl cries vary from one to another but it is true that they express their mental dilemma, grief and pain through the language of tears.
