Will There Be a Cars 4?

So, will there be a cars 4? The world of John Lasseter’s CGI-animated television show and movie franchise “Cars” is populated by humanoid cars. The same-named Pixar and Walt Disney Pictures movie from 2006 marked the start of the series. Cars 2 was released in 2011. In 2017, the third movie, Cars 3, was released. Planes (2013) and Planes: Fire & Rescue are two spinoff movies made by the now-defunct Disneytoon Studios (2014).

Lasseter, then the chief creative leader of Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, & Disneytoon Studios, directed the first two Cars movies. Brian Fee, who worked as a storyboard artist on the first two, directed Cars.

Lasseter worked as executive producer on the movies Planes and Cars 3. The three Cars movie has made more than 1.4 billion dollars at the global box office. The series has sold more than 10 billion dollars in merchandise in its first five years.

Pixar has had great success with the series, but is Cars 4 likely to happen?

Let’s find out!

The first Cars movie, released in 2006, launched the series. Reviewers gave the film Pixar’s least favorable ratings.

On November 7, 2006, the short Mater and the Ghostlight were made available as an extra on the Cars DVD. To maintain interest, the Disney Channel produced and showed a series of short films titled Cars Toons, and by the time Cars 2 was released in 2011, the company had around 10 billion dollars in goods sales.

The Cars Four Wheel Rally rollercoaster debuted at Disneyland Paris in 2007.

The 12-acre Cars Land-owned park opened at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim in the summer of 2012 as the centerpiece of a 1 billion dollar park refurbishment.

In the original Cars movie, Owen Wilson played Lightning McQueen, a talking race car who gets stranded in a desert town while en route to a race and must perform voluntary work before being allowed to leave. After spending time with the locals and developing a little humility, the cocky race car gradually develops an affection for the modest community. Cars was a huge hit despite not receiving the same praise as other Pixar films. The Cars cast was also outstanding, with Michael Keaton and the illustrious Paul Newman (Spider-Man: Homecoming).

With Finn McMissile, an agent played by Michael Caine, and Lightning McQueen working together to compete in a global race, Cars 2 would add some action thriller adrenaline to the cars franchise. The 2011 Cars sequel garnered mixed reviews; while people appreciated the graphics, they criticized the plot and humor as being unsatisfactory.

Cars 3 seems to neatly wrap up Lightning McQueen’s journey while still being plenty of entertaining Easter eggs and Pixar references. Lightning has to train to compete against a new generation of racers after a catastrophic disaster during a race. Cars’ third film explored some heavier subjects and was considered an advancement over the second film.

With Pixar’s existing filmography, Cars 4 will probably not happen. Producers Andrea Warren and Kevin Reher stated their willingness to expand the Cars franchise in 2017.

Cars 4 from Pixar is conceivable, but it won’t be coming soon. Although there has been no official confirmation, Pixar will certainly not be producing more sequels soon. However, after the release of Toy Story 4, producer Mark Nielsen indicated that Pixar would be refocusing its efforts on creating original and unique concepts rather than sequels of Cars, Finding Dory, etc.

How Many Cars Movies Are There?

Cruz Ramirez had been Lightning’s trainer since Cars 3; nevertheless, in the last race, Cruz Ramirez took Lightning’s position. Also referred to as McQueen’s “third act,” the third film’s conclusion implied that Cruz would be the next racer and Lightning would serve as his mentor. Even if Pixar has no plans for a fourth Cars movie, McQueen might still be racing in it if it does.

Final Words

It’s important to remember that the Cars franchise has enormous merchandising power, in addition to the fact that the Cars movies have fans when deciding whether or not there will be a fourth series. The Pixar film series is highly regarded compared to Disney Princesses and Star Wars.

According to Forbes, Cars made a staggering 1.05 billion dollars in 2012. The new cars movie “Cars On The Road” is the ideal balance because, several years after Cars 3, that attraction might not be as strong.

Fans who want more Lightning McQueen content will be drawn to the Disney+ series rather than having to wait for another movie production to focus on these personalities. Pixar may reconsider its position on sequels if the series is successful.

For a successful release of Cars 4, the upcoming film Cars On The Road will need to perform well enough to make up for the franchise’s final entry.
